Solitude Nature Reserve
Solitude is a ‘Place to Connect with Nature’, and is available for day use from dawn to dusk. Explore our walking trails within the woods or have a picnic lunch by the pond.
FREE Overnight Camping within the woods is available, by permit only.
Solitude is located at 45388 Dexter Line 7 kilometres east of Port Stanley on the north side of the road.
Solitude Nature Reserve is available for day use from dawn to dusk for walking on the trails within the woods or having a picnic lunch by the pond. Also available for overnight camping on six sites within the woods. Each campsite has a tent platform, picnic table, fire pit and composting toilet.
Overnight Camping at Solitude Nature Reserve is only available by contacting us for a permit via email at info@pmc-foundation.com. There is NO FEE for camping.
The main trail running south and north (Maeve’s Way) is wheelchair, stroller and walker accessible thanks to TD Friends of the Environment, MEC London and the Friends of Solitude for their financial support in this project.

Solitude Nature Reserve is owned and managed by the Phil McNamee Charitable Foundation for the purpose of preserving a natural environment where the public can enjoy nature. This is our effort in making nature more accessible for families and individuals who want to connect with nature.
Where is Solitude?
Solitude Nature Reserve is located at 45388 Dexter Line, Sparta, ON, N0L 2H0.
7 Kms East of Port Stanley, on the north side of the road.
We are located very close to nearby attractions:
Port Stanley beach (9 Kms), Port Bruce Provincial Park (7 Kms),
Hawks Cliff (5 Kms), and the beautiful The Village of Sparta (4 Kms)

Yes, with a permit.

The length of stay is 3 nights with a required permit and 24 hours in advance of the booking.

Yes, the bunkie can be booked for a fee of $50. per night.
Celebration Tree Garden
Solitude Nature Reserve has a Celebration Tree Garden where you may arrange to plant a tree in memory of a loved one. We only allow native trees to be planted with an engraved rock at the base of the tree. The Garden is located around Campsite 2.

About Our Foundation
The Phil McNamee Charitable Foundation’s focus is youth, education and the environment. We have purchased Solitude to protect it and for a place where the public can enjoy nature. We see Solitude as a place where families and individuals can be connected to the natural world and share in the responsibility to care for it.
The Phil McNamee Charitable Foundation is a registered Foundation under the Canada Revenue Agency. Registration number 84463 6605 RR 0001. Donations for the care of the Nature Reserves are gladly accepted and tax receipts will be issued.
